ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Tuesday reaffirmed Islamabad’s steadfast support for Lebanon’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity.
Deputy PM Dar made the remarks during a meeting with the Interior Minister of Lebanon, Ahmad Al-Hajjar, who called on him in Islamabad on Tuesday, a Foreign Office statement said.
Ishaq Dar also expressed the desire to further strengthen bilateral ties, including cooperation in law enforcement and people-to-people contacts.
The two ministers discussed Pakistan-Lebanon relations and law-enforcement cooperation and welcomed the signing of the Agreement on the Transfer of Sentenced Persons as an important milestone in bilateral legal cooperation.

They also exchanged views on regional and international developments of mutual interest.
The Lebanese Minister appreciated Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting regional peace and stability and congratulated Pakistan on the signing of the Makkah Joint Defence Alliance.
Both sides expressed the desire to further expand bilateral cooperation in all areas of mutual interest.
Pakistan, Lebanon agree to strengthen security cooperation
Earlier, the Lebanese Interior Minister held talks with Pakistani Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, where the two sides agreed to enhance cooperation in the areas of security, counter-terrorism, counter-narcotics, prevention of illegal immigration, money laundering, and cybercrime
The talks also focused on enhancing collaboration regarding police academies and training programmes. The regional situation and Pakistan’s efforts for lasting peace in the region also came under discussion.
During the delegation-level talks, both sides decided to sign a Memorandum of Understanding to enhance cooperation between the two Interior Ministries.
The two sides also decided to appoint Focal Persons to boost bilateral coordination. It was further decided to fully implement the existing Memorandum of Understanding regarding counter-narcotics efforts.
During his meetings with President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of the Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir on Monday, Lebanese Interior Minister Ahmad Al-Hajjar discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between the security institutions of the two countries.

The Lebanese Interior Minister arrived in Islamabad on Monday on a two-day official visit to hold talks with Pakistani leadership aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation between the two countries.
Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry received the Lebanese Interior Minister upon his arrival at Islamabad International Airport.
Pakistan and Lebanon have long enjoyed cordial relations, with security and diplomatic engagements between the two countries becoming increasingly frequent this year.
In June, Lebanese Armed Forces Commander General Rodolphe Haykal visited Pakistan, where he held talks with Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir on regional security, defence cooperation, and efforts to further strengthen military ties, including training programs and institutional linkages.
