ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Iran have underscored the importance of sustained dialogue, reaffirming that lasting peace and stability in the region are vital for strengthening economic cooperation between the two states.
This came during a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Mohammad Ishaq Dar and Governor of the Central Bank of Iran, Dr. Abdolnasser Hemmati, in Islamabad, a Foreign Minister statement on Saturday.
“Both sides emphasised the importance of sustained dialogue and noted that peace and stability in the region remain essential for economic cooperation and shared progress,” it said.

Dr. Abdolnasser Hemmati is part of the Iranian delegation, headed by parliamentary speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf that has arrived in Pakistan earlier today to hold talks with US leaders following a two-week ceasefire between the two countries.
Earlier, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a meeting with a high-level Iranian delegation at the high-stakes Islamabad talks.
During the meeting, PM Sharif appreciated Iran’s engagement in the Islamabad Talks.
The Prime Minister affirmed Pakistan’s sincere resolve to continue playing its role as a mediator to help build momentum towards achieving meaningful results in the interest of regional and global peace and stability, according to a statement issued by the Pakistan PM Office.
