RIYADH: A Saudi-funded kidney dialysis centre in Al-Mahrah governorate of Yemen has treated 135 patients in March.
The medical facility supported by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre in Al-Ghaydah District delivered vital, life-sustaining care to patients suffering from kidney disease, completing 390 scheduled dialysis sessions alongside nine emergency procedures for a total of 56 patients, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Saturday.
In addition, 79 individuals benefited from specialised consultations and comprehensive examinations at the centre’s nephrology clinic, reflecting its commitment to holistic patient care.
The services reached a diverse group of beneficiaries, with male patients representing 65 percent and female patients 35 percent.
Notably, 11 percent of those treated were internally displaced persons, highlighting the center’s critical role in supporting vulnerable populations.
Local residents comprised 87 percent of beneficiaries, while refugees accounted for 2 percent, underscoring the center’s inclusive approach to healthcare delivery.
The centre is part of KSrelief’s broader effort to rehabilitate and sustain Yemen’s health sector amid a prolonged humanitarian crisis that has left millions without access to basic medical care.
