The call comes at a sensitive time, as diplomatic activity intensifies following a recent escalation in the Middle East and a ceasefire linked to the United States–Iran conflict.
Pakistan is set to host high-stakes negotiations between the United States and Iran this weekend, as a two-week ceasefire — brokered through Islamabad’s intensive diplomatic efforts — entered its second day on Thursday.
Delegations are expected to arrive in Islamabad on Friday, with formal negotiations scheduled for Saturday.
Both ministers emphasised the importance of dialogue and coordinated efforts to prevent further deterioration of the situation, reflecting growing regional and international concern over stability.
Saudi Arabia has been actively engaged in diplomatic efforts alongside key regional and global players to support de-escalation and promote a political path forward.
The latest contact between Riyadh and Tehran signals continued engagement between the two regional powers as broader efforts continue to contain tensions and stabilise the region.
