ISLAMABAD: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has reiterated his country’s full support for Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s efforts to restore peace and stability in the Middle East.
The remarks came during a telephone conversation between the two leaders, according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office media wing on Wednesday.
“During their most warm and cordial conversation, the Turkish President conveyed his heartfelt felicitations to the Prime Minister on Pakistan’s historic peace initiative undertaken to end hostilities in the region,” the statement added.

President Erdoğan commended Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for his courageous and prudent leadership in driving efforts to end the devastating Gulf conflict, which has caused severe human suffering and widespread destruction of infrastructure.
“He reaffirmed Türkiye’s full support for Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s tireless and sincere efforts to restore peace and stability in the region,” the PM office said.
During the conversation, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif thanked President Erdoğan for his encouragement and support of Pakistan’s sincere peace efforts.
He also reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to promoting peace and stability in the region and beyond.

Türkiye welcomes Iran-US ceasefire
Earlier, the Turkish foreign ministry welcomed the temporary ceasefire announced in the war in the region.
“We emphasize the necessity of the full implementation of the temporary ceasefire on the ground and express our expectation that all parties will adhere to the agreement reached,” the Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
It added the path to lasting peace can only be achieved through dialogue, diplomacy, and mutual trust.
“We will continue to extend all necessary support for the successful conclusion of the negotiations to be held in Islamabad,” it said. It also congratulated Pakistan for its role throughout this process.

US-Iran ceasefire
Earlier on Wednesday morning, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced that the United States, its allies, and Iran had agreed to a ceasefire “everywhere”, including Lebanon, following mediation by his government to stop weeks of fighting.
“I am pleased to announce that the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States of America, along with their allies, have agreed to an immediate ceasefire everywhere, including Lebanon and elsewhere, EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY,” Sharif posted on X.
He added that Pakistan’s capital, Islamabad, would welcome delegations from both countries on Friday to hold negotiations aimed at reaching a “conclusive agreement”.
