RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s Masam project cleared 1,231 mines from various regions of Yemen from March 28 to April 3.

The explosive devices removed under the “Masam” project of King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) included 49 anti-tank mines, nine anti-personnel mines, and 1,173 unexploded ordnance, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Monday.

The total number of landmines cleared under the Masam project has now reached 552,420, removing explosive devices that were indiscriminately planted across Yemen and posed severe risks to the lives of innocent civilians, including children, women, and the elderly.

Through its humanitarian arm, KSrelief, Saudi Arabia continues to lead efforts to eliminate landmines and unexploded ordnance from Yemeni territories.

The initiative not only enhances civilian safety but also allows communities to rebuild their lives in a secure and dignified environment.

Since its inception, the Masam project has played a pivotal role in restoring public spaces, schools, and residential areas, enabling safe access for daily activities and essential services.

The ongoing clearance operations reflect Saudi Arabia’s commitment to humanitarian assistance and the protection of vulnerable populations in conflict-affected regions.

By systematically removing these threats, the project contributes to broader peacebuilding efforts, ensuring that Yemeni citizens can live without fear and paving the way for sustainable development and recovery across affected areas.
