RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Interior, Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud, received a phone call on Sunday from Coordinating Minister for National Security and Home Affairs of Singapore, K Shanmugam, during which they discussed the regional developments.

The two officials reviewed the latest developments in the Middle East and discussed ongoing security concerns, especially the Iranian attacks that have impacted regional security and stability, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

They also underscored the need to strengthen bilateral cooperation and coordination to support peace and stability, while addressing a range of issues of mutual concern.

Shanmugam conveyed his country’s condemnation of the Iranian attacks targeting the Kingdom and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states, and reaffirmed Singapore’s solidarity with them in their efforts to enhance security and stability in the Middle East.

The war between the United States, Israel, and Iran that began on February 28 has plunged the Middle East into deep turmoil. Iran has been carrying out attacks on Israeli and US targets across the region, while also targeting neighboring countries that are not part of the conflict.

It may be recalled that, addressing the 43rd session of the Arab Interior Ministers Council via video conference on April 1, Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud warned that recent Iranian attacks pose a serious and growing threat to regional security and stability.

He stressed that such actions risk escalating conflict, undermining peace efforts, and endangering both civilian populations and critical infrastructure.
