ISLAMABAD: Foreign Ministers of Türkiye and Uzbekistan on Thursday commended Pakistan’s proactive role in promoting regional peace and ending the Iran war.

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, during a telephonic conversation with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, acknowledged Pakistan’s role in promoting dialogue and diplomacy, a Foreign Office statement said.

He also discussed the Pakistan-China Five-Point Initiative, underscoring Islamabad’s role in fostering peace and stability in the Gulf and Middle East

“Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to regional peace and stability. They agreed to maintain close contact on regional developments and matters of mutual interest,” the statement said.

Earlier, Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov also held a telephonic conversation with Ishaq Dar and commended Pakistan’s proactive role in promoting regional peace, stability, and de-escalation, a Foreign Office statement said.

He also praised Pakistan’s leadership in hosting the recent meeting of four foreign ministers in Islamabad.

The Uzbek Foreign Minister expressed strong support for the Pakistan-China Five-Point Initiative aimed at promoting peace and stability across the Gulf and the wider Middle East.

The two leaders discussed recent regional developments and agreed to stay in close contact on issues of mutual interest, reinforcing their commitment to ongoing dialogue and cooperation.

The war between the United States, Israel, and Iran, now in its second month, began on February 28 and has plunged the Middle East into deep turmoil.

Pakistan has intensified its diplomatic efforts to help bring an end to the US-Israel war involving Iran.

As part of this push, Islamabad hosted key regional ministers from Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, and Egypt, while also facilitating the exchange of messages between Washington and Tehran.

On Tuesday, Pakistan and China jointly called on the United States, Israel, and Iran to halt ongoing strikes and begin “peace talks as soon as possible.”

The appeal followed a high-level meeting in Beijing between Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
