RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan discussed the current regional situation with his Kuwaiti counterpart Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah in Riyadh on Wednesday.
The two officials also reviewed relations between their countries and issues of common interest, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
Sheikh Jarrah is on an official visit to Saudi Arabia and was received earlier at King Khalid International Airport by Deputy Foreign Minister Waleed Elkhereiji.
Saudi Arabia’s Interior Minister, Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud, has warned that recent Iranian attacks pose a serious and growing threat to regional security and stability.
Addressing the 43rd session of the Arab Interior Ministers Council via video conference, he stressed that such actions risk escalating conflict, undermining peace efforts, and endangering both civilian populations and critical infrastructure, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Wednesday.
Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Defence said Wednesday that air defence systems successfully intercepted and destroyed two unmanned aerial vehicles over the capital, Riyadh.
The Middle East has remained on high alert since the United States and Israel launched a large-scale air offensive against Iran on February 28, resulting in the killing of the Iranian top leadership, including its Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
In response, Iran launched missile and drone strikes targeting Israel, as well as several Gulf countries that are not part of the conflict.
