NEW YORK: Saudi Arabia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Wasel, has emphasised that the Kingdom is actively working with UN member states to forge a unified global stance aimed at strengthening regional and international security.

He reiterated Saudi Arabia’s firm condemnation of Iranian attacks, terming them as a sheer violation of state sovereignty and a direct threat to regional and international security.

In remarks to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), Al-Wasel highlighted the Kingdom’s ongoing efforts within UN forums, including the Security Council and General Assembly, to confront these violations and hold Iran accountable for its destabilising actions.

He also noted that Saudi Arabia is coordinating closely with international partners to protect vital infrastructure and ensure the safety of international maritime navigation.

Stressing the importance of evidence-based reporting, he called on the international community to take decisive action to uphold international law and the principles of the UN Charter.

He also reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s support for de-escalation efforts and peaceful solutions, while stressing the need to stop interference in the internal affairs of states to achieve lasting regional stability.

Earlier, Saudi Arabia condemned the latest Iranian attacks on Kuwait, which targeted a Kuwaiti Armed Forces camp and key infrastructure, including a power and water desalination plant.

The Middle East has remained on high alert since the United States and Israel launched a large-scale air offensive against Iran on February 28, resulting in the killing of the Iranian top leadership, including its Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

In response, Iran launched missile and drone strikes targeting Israel, as well as several Gulf countries that are not part of the conflict.
