LAHORE, Pakistan: Defending champions Lahore Qalandars won the toss and elected to bat first against arch-rivals Karachi Kings in the sixth match of the Pakistan Super League 11 at Gaddafi Stadium on Sunday.

Captain Shaheen Shah Afridi opted to set a target in a high-profile encounter between two of the league’s most followed sides.

The fixture marks the latest chapter in a long-standing rivalry between the two franchises.

Karachi Kings, champions in 2020, hold a clear edge in head-to-head meetings with 14 wins from 22 matches, compared to eight victories for the Qalandars.

Their most recent meeting came in the Eliminator of the previous edition, where Lahore secured a comfortable six-wicket win on their way to lifting the title.

During the last season’s league stage, both sides shared honours with one win each.

Squads announced

Lahore Qalandars field a strong line-up featuring Fakhar Zaman, Sikandar Raza and Haris Rauf, alongside overseas players such as Mustafizur Rahman and Daniel Sams.

Karachi Kings’ squad includes key names such as Moeen Ali, Hasan Ali, Adam Zampa and Imad Wasim, providing balance in both batting and bowling departments.
