LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has revealed a revised schedule for the 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), implementing cost-cutting measures in coordination with the federal government.
Major shift to dual-city format
In a notable departure from previous editions, the tournament has been condensed from six host cities to just two, Lahore and Karachi, with all matches now confined to these venues. The move reflects the board’s alignment with nationwide efforts to conserve resources.

Under the revised plan, the event will feature 44 matches spread across 39 days, with Lahore and Karachi each staging 22 fixtures. The season opener between Hyderabad Kingsmen and Lahore Qalandars remains on schedule as originally planned.
Playoff distribution finalised
Lahore has been designated to host both Eliminators and the final, while Karachi will stage the Qualifier.
With spectators not permitted inside stadiums for the duration of the tournament, organisers have announced upgraded broadcast and production elements aimed at offering an immersive viewing experience for domestic and international audiences.
League officials expressed confidence that fan enthusiasm, coupled with cutting-edge coverage, would help make this edition one of the most-watched in the tournament’s history.
Rationale behind the decision
Acknowledging the absence of crowd presence, an official statement noted that matchday atmospheres would be missed. However, it was highlighted that an average of 30,000 spectators and associated personnel travelling daily over more than a month would place significant pressure on energy resources.
By narrowing the event to two cities, the board noted it would substantially cut down operational complexities, transport requirements, and utility expenses typically associated with a six-city tournament.
Commitment to excellence amid constraints
Organisers reiterated their dedication to maintaining high standards of cricket while adhering to national priorities, asserting that the league would continue to embody the unity, discipline, and excellence that have come to define Pakistan’s premier sporting event.
