LAHORE: The provincial administration has canceled the expression of interest (EOI) for hiring a management firm to conduct tests of applicants for teaching jobs in the province.
Therefore, the hiring of thousands of teachers in public schools across Punjab was still being determined.
SED canceled jobs
Punjab’s School Education Department (SED) canceled the EOI on hiring a management firm to conduct tests of applicants for hiring teachers, according to a notification dated January 12, 2023. The SED’s Section Officer (SO) Recruitment indicated in the notification that the EOI advertised on November 26, 2022, on the subject specified above has been canceled by the SED.
Due to the rise in the number of vacancies for teachers, the SED has canceled the EOI under Rule 35 of the PPRA Rules 2014. In addition, SO Recruitment requested fresh proposals in response to future calls for advertisements. The then-Punjab government, led by the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N), announced thousands of new jobs for teachers at all of the SED-operated public schools in June 2022.
According to the former education minister for Punjab, Rana Mashood Ahmed Khan, the province administration will hire more than 16,000 teachers. He stated that during the PML-prior N’s administration, which lasted from 2013 to 2018, 230,000 educators were hired.
