RIYADH: The Emergency Response Project for Combating Cholera in Yemen, backed by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief), provided vital medical services to 18,815 individuals during the week of February 11 to 17, 2026.
The initiative continues to target the Yemeni governorates most affected by the epidemic, aiming to reduce infection rates and curb the spread of the disease through comprehensive preventive measures, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Saturday.
To contain the outbreak, the project has deployed specialised medical monitoring teams to key entry points, including airports and border crossings. Health facilities have been supplied with essential antibiotics, oral rehydration solutions, and medical consumables, while bed capacities at dedicated treatment centers have been expanded to manage rising cases.
These efforts are part of a broader, sustained commitment by Saudi Arabia, through KSrelief, to bolster Yemen’s fragile health sector. In recent months, the center has delivered shipments of medical supplies to health authorities in governorates like Hadhramout to enhance the preparedness of facilities responding to suspected and confirmed cholera cases.
Similar KSrelief-backed interventions have previously assisted over 10,000 individuals in a single week, reflecting the ongoing scale of the humanitarian need.
The support comes as Yemen continues to grapple with one of the world’s most severe humanitarian crises, where a devastated health system faces recurrent outbreaks of infectious diseases. This project represents a core part of the Kingdom’s ongoing commitment to protecting the Yemeni public from epidemics and strengthening healthcare infrastructure in the region.
