ISLAMABAD/LAHORE: Punjab University (PU) employees observed strike on Monday after a university employee was physically assaulted and tortured by members of a student body at the campus.
All employees of the Punjab University, including union officials and faculty members, protested outside the examination branch.
The employees demonstrated inside the institute premises against the student organization, the PU administration, and their hooliganism by carrying placards inscribed with the slogans against them.
“Violence against University employees a norm”
They said that the violence against employees by students had become a norm. However, the institute administration has not taken any action against the concerned students of PU even after three days after the violent incident.
The protesters threatened severe consequences if administrative action was not taken against the goons and malpractices on the campus. They also hinted at the possible call for the closure of all departments of PU.
It is pertinent to note that on Friday, students tortured Musharraf, an employee at Hostel No. 14.
