ISLAMABAD: Britain has introduced a new e-visa system for Pakistani citizens, removing the need for visa stickers on passports. Visa verification will now be conducted digitally via email.

British High Commissioner to Pakistan Jane Marriott announced that under the new system, Pakistani visitors will submit UK visa applications online and visit a visa application centre only for biometric verification.

There will be no need to return to collect passports.

Successful applicants will receive a digital visa record accessible through their UK Visas and Immigration account, making immigration status more secure and easily verifiable.

Simplifies travel to UK

Applicants will also receive a share code to prove their visa status at border checkpoints and other official locations.

High Commissioner Marriott welcomed the change, saying it simplifies travel to the UK and saves time, while maintaining a secure and efficient process.

The digital visa system was first introduced last year for student and work visa applicants.

The current upgrade ensures applicants no longer need to revisit the visa centre once their application is approved.

The British government has advised applicants to avoid visa agents and submit applications directly through the official gov.uk website.

The new e-visa system is expected to make the visa process faster and more convenient for Pakistani citizens travelling to the UK.
