MANILA: Philippines President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said on Sunday that he would brand the Philippines as a gateway to the Asia-Pacific region at the World Economic Forum.

The President made the remarks as he departed for the annual event in Davos on Sunday with hopes to bring fresh investment into the country.

Talking to the media ahead of his visit, he said that the Philippines will be the focus of the dialogue at the World Economic Forum, where he will try to promote the country “as a leader and a gateway to the Asia-Pacific region.”

He is the only leader from the ASEAN, reportedly attending WEF at Davos this year.

The Philippine Ministry for Foreign Affairs said that the President may also utilize the forum to introduce the Philippines’ sovereign wealth fund, which the president had said could encourage growth and development in the country.
