ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Minister for Communications, Abdul Aleem Khan, has expressed the country’s strong desire to foster public-private partnerships with Saudi Arabia to modernize the country’s transport infrastructure.
The minister was speaking to Saudi Minister for Transport and Logistics Saleh Bin Nasser Al-Jasser on the sidelines of the OIC Conference in Istanbul, state-run Radio Pakistan reported on Saturday.
During the meeting, both ministers reviewed ongoing progress in the Saudi communications sector and discussed ways to enhance cooperation among OIC member states to strengthen regional trade and connectivity.
Abdul Aleem Khan extended a formal invitation to the Saudi government to invest in the M-10 Motorway project, which features a new alignment from Karachi Port to Hyderabad.
He also highlighted significant investment potential in Pakistan’s maritime sector, urging Saudi companies to explore opportunities in the country’s expanding transport and logistics landscape.
The discussions mark another step in the growing economic partnership between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, with both sides expressing commitment to deepening bilateral ties in infrastructure development.
The Saudi Minister expressed keen interest in modernizing Pakistan’s communications sector. He noted that Saudi Arabia is particularly interested in increasing flight operations to Pakistan.
Separately, former Turkish Minister for Family and Social Services Zehra Zümrüt Selçuk met with Abdul Aleem Khan. During their discussion, both sides explored avenues to strengthen bilateral cooperation, particularly in the agriculture sector.
