DELHI: Bas de Leede starred with a commanding unbeaten 72 as the Netherlands secured a seven-wicket victory over Namibia in their ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 clash at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Tuesday, marking their first win in the tournament.

Chasing Namibia’s target of 157, the Dutch side finished at 159-3 in 18 overs. Opener Michael Levitt contributed a brisk 28 off 15 balls, hitting three sixes, while Colin Ackermann added 32 off 28 deliveries. Skipper Scott Edwards remained unbeaten on 18 from nine balls, including a boundary and a six.

Namibia’s innings began shakily as Aryan Dutt dismissed Louren Steenkamp for six off six balls. Jan Frylinck and Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton steadied the innings with a 50-run second-wicket stand before Frylinck fell for 30 off 26 deliveries to Logan van Beek, leaving Namibia at 60-2.

Loftie-Eaton continued with support from captain Gerhard Erasmus, adding 35 runs before Erasmus was dismissed by de Leede for 18. Loftie-Eaton fell short of a fifty, scoring 42 off 38 balls. Quick contributions from JJ Smit (22 off 15) and Ruben Trumpelmann (9 off 8) helped Namibia reach 156-8.

For the Netherlands, Bas de Leede and Logan van Beek claimed two wickets each, while Aryan Dutt and Fred Klaassen took one each, helping their team chase down the target comfortably.
