Kyiv, Ukraine: Russian drone strikes overnight killed three civilians and wounded another in southern Ukraine, authorities said Thursday, as Moscow’s air campaign continues to batter the country.
Zaporizhzhia Governor Ivan Fedorov said two women and a man were killed when drones hit residential areas, destroying homes and triggering fires.
The latest attack comes amid a surge in deadly strikes across Ukraine, which have also knocked out power supplies during the harsh winter. Despite ongoing violence, diplomatic efforts are continuing, with President Volodymyr Zelensky saying the next round of peace talks is expected on Sunday. AFP reports.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed follow-up discussions this week and said a US presence was possible.
Earlier strikes across Ukraine between Tuesday and early Wednesday killed at least 16 people, including six passengers when Russian drones hit a train in the east, Ukrainian officials said.
