DAVOS: Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah has reaffirmed the Kingdom’s support for the Lebanese state and its efforts to assert sovereignty.

He expressed these views during a meeting with Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) said on Friday.

The two officials reviewed the fraternal relations between Saudi Arabia and Lebanon and discussed opportunities to strengthen bilateral cooperation across various sectors.

They also exchanged views on the latest developments in Lebanon, with the Kingdom reaffirming its support for the Lebanese state and praising the Lebanese government’s efforts to uphold sovereignty and ensure that arms remain solely under the authority of the state and its legitimate institutions.

The Kingdom also hailed the implementation of reform measures to safeguard Lebanon’s resources and territorial unity and integrity.

Prince Faisal visited Beirut last year following the election of President Joseph Aoun, marking the first visit by a Saudi foreign minister to Lebanon in 15 years. In a reciprocal gesture, President Aoun chose Saudi Arabia as his first foreign destination after assuming office.
