“Both sides underscored the importance of resolving regional issues through peaceful dialogue,” it added.
They also agreed to remain in close and constructive engagement on matters of mutual interest.
It may be recalled that Ishaq Dar, on January 6, also held a telephonic conversation with Myanmar Foreign Minister U Than Swe, focusing on strengthening bilateral ties and discussing regional developments.
According to a spokesperson for Pakistan’s Foreign Office, the two leaders reviewed the current status of Pakistan–Myanmar relations and exchanged views on issues of mutual interest.
The discussion also encompassed the prevailing regional situation, including matters affecting South and Southeast Asia.
Pakistan and Myanmar have historically maintained cordial diplomatic relations, sharing interests in trade, regional stability, and cultural exchange.
In recent years, both countries have sought to deepen engagement on matters such as economic collaboration, border management, and participation in regional forums like the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC).
