RIYADH: Several Arab countries have commended the efforts of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates in supporting the security and stability of Yemen.
The United Arab Emirates on Tuesday announced the withdrawal of its remaining counter-terrorism units from Yemen, saying the decision was taken after a review of recent developments on the ground.
The decision came after Saudi Arabia expressed strong concern over recent actions by the UAE in Yemen, warning that they posed serious risks to Saudi national security and to the stability of Yemen and the wider region.
In a statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs referred to an announcement issued on December 25, 2025, saying the Kingdom had been working closely with the UAE to contain escalating developments in the Yemeni governorates of Hadramout and Al-Mahara.
Security of Saudi Arabia and GCC States Integral to Qatar
In a statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency, the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed that the security of Saudi Arabia and the Gulf Cooperation Council states is integral to the security of Qatar, stemming from the deep-rooted brotherly ties and shared destiny that unite the GCC countries.
Qatar said it is closely monitoring the latest developments in Yemen, reaffirming its full support for the country’s legitimate government and underscoring the need to preserve Yemen’s unity and territorial integrity.
It stressed the importance of protecting the interests of the brotherly Yemeni people and fulfilling their aspirations for security, stability, and development.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in its statement, welcomed the statements issued by Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, noting that they demonstrate a commitment to prioritising regional interests, strengthening the principles of good neighbourliness, and upholding the values and foundations set out in the Charter of the Gulf Cooperation Council.
The ministry also reaffirmed that Qatar will continue to be at the forefront of efforts to promote dialogue and diplomacy as the most effective means of achieving lasting prosperity, security and stability for the region and its peoples.
Jordan commends Saudi Arabia and UAE’s commitment
According to the SPA, spokesperson for Jordan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Fuad Al-Majali expressed appreciation for the commitment of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates to Yemen’s security, stability, and sovereignty, as well as for their approach to the current situation in Yemen.
Jordan said that it is closely monitoring developments in Yemen, stressing its support for all efforts aimed at de-escalation, ensuring Yemen’s security and stability, respecting its sovereignty, and fulfilling the aspirations of its people.
Al-Majali emphasised Jordan’s firm position in supporting Yemen’s legitimate government and all efforts aimed at reaching a comprehensive political solution that ensures a secure and stable future for Yemen, and safeguards the security of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and enhances overall security and stability.
Bahrain praises Saudi Arabia, UAE
The Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs appreciated the pivotal role played by Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates in supporting the security and stability of the Republic of Yemen.
The ministry also reaffirmed Bahrain’s firm and supportive position towards all regional and international initiatives aimed at achieving a comprehensive and lasting political settlement in Yemen.
It emphasised that any solution must be in line with the GCC initiative and its executive mechanism, the outcomes of the Comprehensive National Dialogue Conference, and relevant UN Security Council resolutions, while preserving Yemen’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity and ensuring security, stability and sustainable prosperity for its people.
Security of Saudi Arabia, GCC states key to Kuwait security
In a statement, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs underscored the need to preserve Yemen’s unity and territorial integrity, while safeguarding the interests of the brotherly Yemeni people in pursuit of security, stability and development, according to SPA.
The ministry affirmed that the security of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) is a cornerstone of collective Gulf security, founded on the bonds of brotherhood and a shared destiny among GCC nations.
It also praised the responsible stance of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, highlighting their commitment to regional stability, good neighbourliness and adherence to GCC principles that form the basis of joint Gulf action.
Kuwait further reaffirmed its ongoing support for regional and international initiatives aimed at fostering dialogue and peace, stressing that diplomacy remains the most effective means of achieving security, stability and lasting peace across the region.
