ISLAMABAD: India on Friday released three Pakistani prisoners who were later repatriated via the Wagah-Attari border crossing.
According to a statement issued on Friday by the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi, the released prisoners were identified as Asghar Ali, Ramzan, and Muhammad Idrees.
The High Commission said it remains committed to advocating for the rights, welfare, and repatriation of Pakistani citizens detained in Indian prisons, reaffirming its ongoing efforts to ensure their safe return home.

Pakistan and India, in July, exchanged lists of prisoners in each other’s custody through diplomatic channels.
The exchange of lists took place in pursuance of the Agreement on Consular Access, 2008, Pakistan Foreign Office said in a statement.
The agreement requires both sides to share the lists of prisoners in each other’s custody on 1st January and 1st July, every year.
“The Government of Pakistan handed over a list of 246 Indian or believed-to-be-Indian prisoners (53 civilian prisoners and 193 fishermen) to a representative of the Indian High Commission, Islamabad. Simultaneously, the Government of India shared a list of 463 Pakistani or believed-to-be-Pakistani prisoners (382 civilian prisoners and 81 fishermen) to a diplomat from the High Commission for Pakistan, New Delhi,” the statement said.
The development took place despite tensions between the two states, whose militaries were embroiled in a four-day conflict in May before Washington brokered a ceasefire on May 10.
