- Temba Bavuma leads ODI side, while Tristan Stubbs is omitted and Rubin Hermann retains his place.
- Quinton de Kock and veteran David Miller return to T20I squad, with Ryan Rickelton and Lhuan-de Pretorius missing out.
ISLAMABAD: South Africa have named their ODI and T20I squads for next month’s white-ball tour of India, with fast bowler Anrich Nortje making a return to international cricket after being sidelined since the 2024 T20 World Cup final.
Nortje has recently featured for the Dolphins in the ongoing T20 Challenge, playing five matches and ranking ninth on the tournament’s wicket-taking chart. His inclusion in the T20I squad suggests that South African selectors are considering him for the 2025 T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka. However, he has not been selected for the ODI series.
Regular skipper Temba Bavuma returns to lead the ODI side after missing the Pakistan series due to injury. Tristan Stubbs has been omitted, while Rubin Hermann, who made his debut against Pakistan, retains his spot.
South Africa is already in India for a two-match Test series, having won the first Test in Kolkata, with the second Test scheduled in Guwahati tomorrow.
T20I Squad Highlights
The T20I squad features the return of Quinton de Kock, whose unbeaten 123 in the second ODI against Pakistan has cemented his place. De Kock’s return has left Ryan Rickelton out of the T20I side. Reeza Hendricks also rejoins, with Lhuan-de Pretorius missing out.
Donovan Ferreira, the T20I captain against Pakistan, retains his place. Dewald Brevis is back after a minor muscle injury, and veteran David Miller also makes a comeback after last playing in the Champions Trophy in March.
