Abu Dhabi: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is not planning to participate in the proposed international stabilisation force for Gaza, citing the lack of a clear mandate or operational framework, a senior Emirati official said on Monday.

“The UAE does not yet see a clear framework for the stability force, and under such circumstances will probably not participate in such a force,” said Anwar Gargash, diplomatic adviser to the UAE president, during the Abu Dhabi Strategic Debate forum.

According to AFP, the proposed multinational force, coordinated by the United States, is reportedly aimed at maintaining order and overseeing reconstruction efforts in the Gaza Strip following a fragile ceasefire that took hold after nearly two years of intense conflict between Israel and Hamas. The force was expected to include contingents from key regional players such as Egypt, Qatar, Turkiye, and possibly the UAE — all nations with diplomatic leverage or humanitarian involvement in Gaza.

Last week, US President Donald Trump said he anticipated the stabilisation mission to be deployed “very soon,” framing it as a crucial step toward post-war recovery and governance in the enclave. However, questions remain about the mission’s structure, rules of engagement, and whether it would operate under United Nations auspices or as a US-led initiative.

President Donald Trump’s 20-point “Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict” (signed October 9, 2025, effective October 10, 2025) aims to resolve the Gaza War through a multi-phase approach involving a ceasefire, demilitarization, new governance, and reconstruction. The region is facing a catastrophic humanitarian crisis, with widespread destruction and a high risk of famine

The “Gaza peace force,” formally known as the International Stabilization Force (ISF), is a proposed multinational security deployment that is a central component of U.S. President Donald Trump’s 20-point peace plan to end the Gaza War.
