Bus Accident in Senegal Kills 38, Injures 87

ISLAMABAD: According to fire brigade official, as many 38 people were killed and 87 injured when buses collided near Kaffrine town in central Senegal on Sunday.

In charge of the operations of the National Fire Brigade, Colonel Cheikh Fall said that the accident was serious.

He added that 38 people had died while the total number of victims was 125.

After the accident, all the victims were taken to a hospital and medical center in Kaffrine town. The mishap had occurred at 0315 GMT and by the filing of this report, the wreckage of the demolished buses had been removed.

Colonel Fall revealed that the region’s governor and concerned local officials had visited the scene of the accident.

According to experts, although accidents on the roads of Senegal are quite common, the death toll and the number of injured in this one was the highest in the past few years.

Experts said that accidents are common due to poor roads, poor driving, and decrepit vehicles.
