ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Iran reaffirmed their shared commitment to peace, regional stability, and the unity of the Muslim Ummah while rejecting state-sponsored terrorism and unilateral aggression, during a meeting between Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Dr Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, in Islamabad on Friday.
In a statement, the Prime Minister’s Office said, Shehbaz Sharif warmly welcomed the visiting delegation, describing Pakistan and Iran as “brotherly Muslim nations bound by faith, history, and a common vision for peace.” He underscored that both countries remain steadfast in resolving global and regional disputes through dialogue and diplomacy rather than confrontation.
Extending his “utmost reverence” to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and President Masoud Pazeshkian, the Prime Minister said both nations reject state-sponsored terrorism and unilateral aggression.
PM added that both countries have unfortunately been victims of terrorism and thus firmly share the resolve of global peace, prosperity, and positive cooperation in the region.
Pakistan and Iran are determined to work in cohesion and cooperation for the unity of the Muslim Ummah.

“Our peoples have suffered from terrorism,” he noted, “and this shared experience strengthens our determination to work together for global peace, prosperity, and the unity of the Muslim Ummah.”
He added that Islamabad is eager to foster cooperation with Tehran in areas of mutual interest — including economic growth, trade, and regional connectivity — to advance shared prosperity.
Dr. Ghalibaf expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s “principled and timely” support to Iran during the recent 12-day Iran-Israel conflict, describing it as “a gesture deeply cherished by the Iranian people.” He affirmed that Iran and Pakistan stand united in their belief in Muslim solidarity and global peace, and conveyed a message of goodwill from President Pazeshkian to the Prime Minister and people of Pakistan.
Acknowledging the “positive and robust” collaboration between the two parliaments, the Iranian speaker praised the efforts of National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq for strengthening bilateral legislative cooperation.
The meeting, also attended by Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Syed Tariq Fatemi, concluded with both sides reaffirming their resolve to expand economic engagement and to work collectively for peace and unity across the Muslim world.
