BRUNEI, Darussalam: General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), on an official visit to Brunei Darussalam, held important meetings with the Sultan of Brunei, His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah.
The CJCSC also met with key Brunei officials, including Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Retired) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister at the PM’s office and Minister of Defence-II, and Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan, Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces.
The discussions focused on the evolving global and regional security environment, with both sides emphasising the importance of strengthening military-to-military ties and defence cooperation. The CJCSC underscored Pakistan’s cordial relations with Brunei Darussalam and expressed his commitment to enhancing these relations further.
Regional peace and stability
General Mirza also visited KDB DARULAMAN at Muara Naval Base and the Defence Academy Royal Brunei Armed Forces. During his visit, he delivered a talk on “Pakistan’s contributions to regional peace and stability” and interacted with students of the Command and Staff course, including officers from 19 foreign countries.
The Sultan and the civil-military leadership of Brunei Darussalam expressed their appreciation for the high professional standards of Pakistan’s Armed Forces, acknowledging their achievements and sacrifices in the fight against terrorism.
Upon his arrival at the Headquarters Royal Brunei Armed Forces, a smartly turned-out military contingent presented a ‘Guard of Honour’ to General Mirza.
