DOHA, Qatar: Pakistan and Qatar have reaffirmed their resolve to deepen their strategic partnership, with a special focus on defence and security cooperation.
This came during a meeting between Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari and Qatar’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs, Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, on the sidelines of the Second World Summit for Social Development in Doha, Radio Pakistan reported.
President Asif Ali Zardari underscored the historic and close relationship between Pakistan and Qatar, expressing satisfaction with the ongoing cooperation between their armed forces in training, capacity building, and defence production.
He emphasised the importance of further enhancing collaboration through joint military exercises, defence technology development, and the exchange of expertise to advance regional peace and stability.
The Qatari Deputy Prime Minister commended the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces and reaffirmed Qatar’s commitment to strengthening defence cooperation between the two nations.
He said Qatar was ready to advance joint defence production and explore new areas of partnership.
Sheikh Saoud also assured Qatar’s support for facilitating peace and stability in the Afghan conflict.
Pakistan shares cordial ties with Qatar rooted in economic cooperation, defence, shared values, faith and culture. Qatar hosts a large Pakistani workforce.
