ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Security forces conducted a successful counter-terrorism operation in the Dalbandin district of south-western Balochistan province, killing six terrorists linked to the Indian-backed terror group Fitna Al-Hindustan.
According to security sources, the operation was part of ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist networks and restore peace in the region.
The banned terrorist group’s presence in the area has now been effectively dismantled, delivering a significant setback to its operations.
Sources stated that the terrorists were hiding in a mountain cave. Intelligence and reconnaissance teams maintained constant aerial surveillance of the location and waited for the right moment to strike.
A precision operation was launched, successfully neutralising the target without causing any civilian casualties, security sources said.
In a separate operation in the Shahi Tangi forest of Bajaur district of north-western Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, security forces targeted hideouts and tunnels used by the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), also referred to as Fitna al-Khawarij.
An intelligence-based raid led to an intense exchange of fire, during which one terrorist was killed. Several others were injured and managed to flee the area.
Forces also recovered a cache of weapons, explosives, and communication equipment from the site, dealing another blow to the operational capacity of the group.
Pakistan has experienced a surge in cross-border terrorist incidents, particularly in the border provinces of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, since the return of the Afghan Taliban to power in 2021.
Tensions have continued to rise between Pakistan and Afghanistan’s Taliban regime, with Islamabad urging Kabul to take decisive action against terrorist groups operating from Afghan territory.
Officials confirmed that this major success was the outcome of strong coordination between the security forces and intelligence agencies.
Their joint monitoring and information-sharing capabilities led to the identification and destruction of the group’s hideout.
