RAWALPINDI: Pakistan’s security forces have killed 34 terrorists belonging to the “Indian proxy” Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) terrorist group during intelligence-based operations across northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa between October 13 and 15, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement on Thursday.
According to the ISPR, an intelligence-based operation (IBO) was launched in the Spinwam area of North Waziristan after reports of terrorists’ presence. During the ensuing exchange of fire, 18 terrorists were killed as troops effectively targeted their positions.
In another IBO in South Waziristan District, eight terrorists were neutralised following an intense firefight.
A third encounter in Bannu District resulted in the killing of another eight terrorists, bringing the total number of eliminated terrorists to 34 over three days.
The military’s media wing stated that sanitisation operations were ongoing in the affected areas to ensure that no militant elements remained.
The ISPR reaffirmed that Pakistan’s security forces and law enforcement agencies remain fully committed to eradicating terrorism under the national counterterrorism drive “Azm-e-Istehkam”, which was approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan.
“The campaign will continue at full pace to wipe out the menace of foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism from the country,” the statement concluded.
