ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Wednesday called for an emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to address the unprovoked and ‘illegal Israeli aggression’ against Qatar.

“In view of the unprovoked illegal Israeli aggression against the brotherly State of Qatar, Pakistan, along with Algeria and Somalia, has requested an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council, to discuss the situation and seize itself of this grave matter,” Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar wrote on his official X handle.

“Pakistan expresses its complete solidarity and firm support with the Government and brotherly people of Qatar,” Ishaq Dar said.

According to Doha News, the UN Security Council will hold an emergency meeting on Wednesday over Israel’s shocking attack on Doha.

The meeting will convene at the request of Algeria and Pakistan, both of which strongly condemned the Israeli attack and expressed their solidarity with Qatar.

On Tuesday, Israel struck a residential building housing Hamas members as they were discussing the latest proposal presented by U.S. President Donald Trump over a Gaza truce.

Earlier today, Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani warned his country reserved the right to respond to Israel’s deadly attack on Doha on Tuesday, calling it a “pivotal moment” for the entire region.

“Qatar… reserves the right to respond to this blatant attack,” the Qatari Prime Minister told a press conference.

“We believe that today we have reached a pivotal moment. There must be a response from the entire region to such barbaric actions,” Sheikh Mohammed added.

On Wednesday, Qatar’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Sheikha Alya Al Thani, submitted a message to the United Nations and the Security Council regarding the attack.

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif spoke with Qatar’s Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on Tuesday night, condemning Israeli air strikes on Doha as a “blatant violation” of Qatari sovereignty and expressing Pakistan’s solidarity with the Gulf state in the wake of the attack.

“He conveyed his deepest sympathies and expressed solidarity with His Highness the Amir, the Qatari Royal Family, as well as with the people of Qatar,” a PM House statement said after both the leaders held a telephonic conversation.

The Prime Minister termed Israel’s attack as a dastardly act that showed the mindset of its leaders, who were willing to go to any length in the blind pursuit of their nefarious goals.
