The hill rises to 937 meters above sea level in Chalatenango, northwest of the capital, San Salvador. From its summit, the views stretch across the 5 de Noviembre Hydroelectric Reservoir, the Cerron Grande Dam, the Lempa and Sumpul rivers, and the Chinchontepec volcanoes.
Thousands of tourists visit each year for hiking and camping, and in winter, the peak often rises above a blanket of clouds, offering some of the country’s most striking landscapes.
