RIYADH: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime on Monday agreed to enhance cooperation in order to prevent human trafficking.
The two sides inked the 2nd phase of an agreement to further strengthen Saudi Arabia’s capabilities to prevent and punish human trafficking. The agreement was signed by the UN Office on Drugs and Crime and Saudi Human Rights Commission.

President of Saudi Arabia’s Human Right Commission Hala Al-Tuwaijri termed human trafficking as one of the most heinous crimes that deprive individuals of freedom, dignity and violate human rights.
The President stressed that Saudi Arabia through the international agreements and regulations will build an institutional and legal framework that guarantees the protection of every individual in order to assist the victims.

She said that the renewal of the deal comes within the framework of Saudi Arabia’s continued efforts to follow up on initiatives and projects related to preventing and combating the crimes and enhancing the country’s capabilities to counter these crimes in the society.
The representative of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime Hatem Ali lauded the partnership between the two sides.
