Bad Weather Mounts Challenges as Pakistan Army Continues Rescue Efforts in Flood-Hit Areas

In addition to delivering aid, army helicopters are also evacuating injured individuals, women, and children from isolated areas to safer locations

ISLAMABAD: Rescue and relief operations by the Pakistan Army are underway in Mansehra, Nailban and Battagram areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province after over 340 people were killed in devastating monsoon floods.

A relief team of the Pakistan Army was sent to Nilban after information of a flood was received from the locals of the flood-affected area.

The team has provided first aid to the injured at the site and had to walk 8 kilometres to reach the affected area due to the bad road infrastructure.

Medical assistance

The injured people, including a child and an adult, have been immediately shifted to the Rural Health Clinic, Chhatar plain.

The Pakistan Army has also set up a medical camp in the flood-hit areas. In total, more than 100 patients were provided with medical facilities.  The aid, including medicines, first aid, and food items, has also been distributed among the flood-hit people.

Humanitarian steps

Milk and food items were also provided to the most flood-affected families in the area.

Rescue operations are facing problems due to bad weather, continuous landslides, and inaccessible routes in the area. The Army team also carried out road clearance work during its return.


The relief team has returned to Government High School, Chhatar Plain, after conducting the rescue and relief operation.

Local people expressed gratitude to the Pakistan Army for its timely arrival and effective assistance during the recent floods.  People appreciated the humanitarian steps of the Pakistan Army during the heavy rains and floods.

Relief efforts

On the special directives of the Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Asim Munir, the Pakistan Army has intensified relief efforts in the flood-affected regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with the distribution of essential rations underway.

Despite challenging weather conditions, army helicopters remain actively engaged in rescue and relief operations across various areas of Buner, Shangla, and Swat. In a recent effort, army helicopters delivered food supplies to the remote Khwar Banda region.

The distributed rations include flour, rice, lentils, powdered milk, salt, tea, and cooking oil.

In addition to delivering aid, army helicopters are also evacuating injured individuals, women, and children from isolated areas to safer locations.

Medical teams from the Pakistan Army have set up field camps in the affected areas, where they are providing free medicines and healthcare services to the flood victims.
