ISTANBUL: Turkish foreign minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said on Saturday that the foreign ministers of Syria, Turkiye, and Russia will hold a meeting in the 2nd half of January.
January 2023 Meeting
Mevlut Cavusoglu told the media that they have taken a decision to hold a tripartite meeting in January. He hinted that the meeting could be held in a third country.
Earlier, the defense ministers of Syria, Turkiye and Russia held a meeting in Russia on Wednesday for the first time since the war started in Syria in 2011.

In December, Turkish President Erdogan had said that he might meet Syrian President Bashar Assad following meetings at the level of ministers. Ankara had launched a series of air strikes against Kurdish in Syria in November.
The Syrian and Turkish foreign ministers had a brief informal meeting on the sidelines of a summit in 2021 while Ankara admitted intelligence contacts.
