MONTREAL: Former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and American pop superstar Katy Perry have ignited a flurry of speculation about a possible romantic connection after being spotted dining together at a high-end restaurant in Montreal on Monday night.
According to celebrity news outlet TMZ, which first broke the story, Perry and Trudeau were seen enjoying a private dinner at Le Violon, an upscale restaurant in the city’s Plateau neighbourhood.
The restaurant, run by celebrity chef Danny Smiles, was recently listed 11th on Canada’s 100 Best Restaurants and has been labelled “Michelin Recommended.”
Photos published by TMZ show Perry smiling and leaning across the table, engaged in conversation with Trudeau.
The two were seated at a table for two and, according to an eyewitness quoted by TMZ, appeared relaxed as they sipped cocktails and shared multiple dishes, including one featuring lobster.

The report further claims that Perry and Trudeau were seen earlier in the day taking a walk together in Montreal’s Mount Royal Park, adding fuel to the speculation.
Neither Perry’s team nor Trudeau’s representatives have responded to media requests for comment. Le Violon also declined to make a statement regarding the high-profile visit.
The dinner has sparked a wave of online chatter and social media buzz, with many questioning whether the outing was a friendly engagement or something more personal.
The timing of the meeting has raised eyebrows, as both Perry and Trudeau are newly single.
Perry, 40, is currently on her Lifetimes Tour across Canada, with upcoming performances scheduled in Ottawa, Montreal and Quebec City.
Earlier this month, she confirmed the end of her engagement to actor Orlando Bloom after nearly a decade together. The couple share a four-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove.
Meanwhile, Trudeau, 53, and his wife Sophie Grégoire Trudeau announced their separation in August 2023 following 18 years of marriage.
The couple share three children: Xavier, 17, Ella-Grace, 16, and Hadrien, 11.
According to Page Six, Perry and Trudeau also visited the kitchen of Le Violon after their meal to thank the restaurant staff, a gesture witnessed by several diners and reported by the publication.
