DOHA: Pakistan and Somalia have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations in the defence and healthcare sectors.
The resolve was expressed during a meeting between Pakistan’s Additional Foreign Secretary Hamid Asghar and Somali Foreign Minister Abdisalam Abdi Ali in Doha on the sidelines of the OIC Contact Group conference on Somalia hosted by Qatar, state media reported on Monday.
Both sides discussed a wide range of collaborative initiatives. These included enhanced training opportunities across various sectors, naval capacity building, initiation of direct shipping links between Karachi and Mogadishu, expanded defence cooperation, issuance of medical visas, and the supply of pharmaceuticals and healthcare products.
The Somali Foreign Minister accepted an invitation from Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister to visit Pakistan, further demonstrating a commitment to deepening ties between the two nations.
