As tensions continue to rise in the region, Guterres emphasised the urgent need for diplomacy, stating, “I reiterate my call for immediate de-escalation leading to a ceasefire.”

In an appeal to the international community, the UN chief warned against the growing risk of a wider conflict: “I strongly appeal to all to avoid any further internationalization of the conflict.”
Guterres’s remarks come as the UN and global leaders push for restraint and seek avenues to contain the crisis.
