ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed Islamabad’s desire to further promote economic partnership with Belarus, highlighting opportunities for enhanced cooperation in key sectors including agriculture, defence, and information technology.
Talking to Belarus’s Defence Minister Lt. General Victor Khrenin in Islamabad on Wednesday, PM Sharif said Pakistan and Belarus enjoy excellent bilateral relations that are strengthening over time, Radio Pakistan reported.
The Prime Minister said that Pakistan wishes to benefit from Belarus’s expertise in the manufacturing of agricultural machinery.
PM Sharif said that Pakistan’s cooperation with Belarus in the fields of Information Technology and Defence will also be further enhanced.
The Prime Minister briefed the Belarusian delegation on Pakistan’s position regarding the recent tense situation in South Asia.
PM Sharif said Pakistan offered impartial investigations into the Pahalgam incident in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJK), but instead of responding positively, India demonstrated aggression by attacking Pakistan and targeting civilian populations, resulting in the martyrdom of innocent civilians.
The Prime Minister said Pakistan gave a strong response in self-defence against Indian aggression.
The Belarusian Minister of Defence said his country desires peace and stability in South Asia.
He said the purpose of his visit to Pakistan is to further progress on the memorandums of understanding and agreements between the two countries.

Pakistan and Belarus enjoy cordial relations. In April 2025, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visited Belarus and held a meeting with President Aleksandr Lukashenko in Minsk.
During the meeting, both sides agreed to enhance bilateral cooperation in key areas, including agriculture, food security, industry, trade, and defence.
They also agreed to facilitate the placement of 150,000 skilled Pakistani workers in Belarus to contribute to the country’s nation-building efforts.
