ISLAMABAD: A heated moment stopped play during the Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10 clash, as Islamabad United’s Colin Munro appeared to accuse Multan Sultans’ Iftikhar Ahmed of an illegal bowling action mid-over.

The incident occurred during the 10th over of the second innings, with Islamabad United chasing a target of 169 for victory.

Munro Accuses Iftikhar of Throwing

On the third delivery of the over, Iftikhar, bowling off-spin, sent down a quicker ball that Munro just managed to dig out, preventing it from crashing into his stumps.

As the ball rolled back to the bowler, Munro made a throwing gesture towards the umpire at the bowler’s end, seemingly implying that Iftikhar’s action was suspect.

Munro repeated the motion several times, which clearly irked Iftikhar. The bowler voiced his displeasure to the square leg umpire, gesturing towards Munro in frustration.

Multan captain Mohammad Rizwan then intervened, approaching Munro, and the two were seen pointing fingers at each other in a heated exchange.

Useless protest

As Munro returned to his crease, he had further words with other Multan players. Despite the protest, Iftikhar was not called for throwing by the umpires.

Ironically, in the very next over, Munro misjudged a delivery from Michael Bracewell and lofted it to long-on, where Iftikhar took a straightforward catch.

Earlier in the game, Multan Sultans had put up 168 for 5, with Usman Khan top-scoring with a fluent 61 from 40 balls.

However, Islamabad United chased down the target comfortably, winning by seven wickets with nearly three overs to spare.

Munro contributed 45, while USA wicketkeeper-batter Andries Gous led the charge with an unbeaten 80 off 45 deliveries, opening the innings.
