BIRMINGHAM: Pakistan have been fined 50 per cent of their match fees and deducted 11 points from the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) standings after maintaining a slow over-rate during the third Test against England at Edgbaston.
Pakistan were found to be 11 overs short of the required rate after time allowances were considered during the match, which England won by eight wickets.
The penalty was imposed by ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees member Ranjan Madugalle following charges brought by the match officials, including on-field umpires Paul Reiffel and Chris Gaffaney.
WTC Points Deducted
Under ICC regulations, players receive a five per cent fine of their match fees for every over their team fails to complete within the allotted time, with the maximum penalty limited to 50 per cent.

The 11-point deduction leaves Pakistan ninth in the WTC standings with a points percentage of 4.63.
England Series Struggles
The penalty follows a disappointing Test series for Pakistan, who suffered defeats in all three matches against England.
Pakistan lost the opening Test at Headingley by an innings and 103 runs before suffering a 194-run defeat at Lord’s. England completed a clean sweep with an eight-wicket victory at Edgbaston while chasing a target of 130.
Following the first two defeats, the Pakistan Cricket Board made several changes to the squad, releasing seven players and introducing five uncapped players.
Razaullah Shines
Despite the series loss, Pakistan found a positive in the debut performance of Razaullah.
The 21-year-old impressed with the ball by taking four wickets, including the dismissal of Joe Root, while also scoring an aggressive 81 off 63 deliveries in the second innings.
Razaullah’s innings included nine sixes and four fours, helping him equal New Zealand’s Tim Southee’s record for the most sixes on Test debut.
Pakistan’s next WTC assignment will come in November when they host Sri Lanka for a two-match Test series in Rawalpindi and Lahore.
