ECO Calligraphy, Arts Exhibition Concludes in Pakistan

The exhibition celebrated region’s rich cultural diversity

ISLAMABAD: A calligraphy and arts exhibition, showcasing the artistic and cultural treasures of the Economic Cooperation Organisation (ECO) member states, concluded in Islamabad on Monday.

Titled “Timeless Serenity of Calligraphy and Arts,” the exhibition wrapped up with a ceremony at the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA).

Organised by the ECO Cultural Institute, the Ministry of National Heritage and Culture Division, The Diplomatic Insight, and PNCA, the event celebrated the region’s rich cultural diversity, artistic heritage, and the unifying power of art and calligraphy.

Hassan Nasir Jamy Federal Secretary, Ministry of National Heritage and Culture on the occasion emphasised the transformative role of cultural diplomacy in strengthening regional harmony and mutual understanding.

He said the exhibition was a reflection of the shared values and artistic brilliance of the ECO member states. “Art and culture provide a universal language that transcends boundaries, fostering connections that are essential for sustainable regional cooperation,” he said.

Atadjan Movlamov, Ambassador of Turkmenistan and Dean of the Diplomatic Corps while addressing the audience praised the collaborative efforts of the organisers and commended the exhibition for highlighting the diverse yet interconnected cultural identities of the ECO region. He emphasised that such initiatives play a crucial role in fostering mutual respect and understanding among member states.

Dr. Farhat Asif, President of the Institute of Peace and Diplomatic Studies (IPDS), in her remarks, reflected on the exhibition’s journey and its role in fostering dialogue and cultural understanding. She highlighted the engagement of visitors, who not only appreciated the artistry but also gained insight into the unique traditions and heritage of the ECO member countries.

Dr. Asif emphasised the significance of The Diplomatic Insight and the Institute of Peace and Diplomatic Studies in organizing initiatives that strengthen ties between nations and promote the objectives of cultural diplomacy.

The exhibition, which ran from January 7 to 14, featured calligraphic masterpieces by Azeem Iqbal and paintings from ECO member states, including Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Iran, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Afghanistan. Visitors had the opportunity to not only admire the art but also deepen their knowledge of the cultural richness of ECO member states through the exhibits and interactive engagements.
