RIYADH: Saudi Arabia on Tuesday condemned the continued targeting of civilians and relief and humanitarian agencies by the Israeli occupation force in the Palestinian territories and called on the international community to fulfill its responsibilities regarding the continuous aggression faced by the Palestinian people.

The condemnation was made during the Saudi cabinet session chaired by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud in Riyadh on Tuesday.

The cabinet reviewing the latest developments in regional and international affairs called on the international community to fulfil its responsibilities vis-à-vis the continuous aggression faced by the Palestinian people.

According to the Gaza health ministry Israel’s war in the Palestinian territory, now in its 410th day has killed at least 43,972 Palestinians and injured over 104,008. While Lebanese health ministry said that Israel has killed over 3,516 people in the country since October 2023.

In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) after the session, Minister of Media Salman bin Yousef Al-Dossary said that the cabinet reiterated its concern over extremist Israeli statements about imposing sovereignty over the West Bank, and the construction and expansion of settlements.

He said the cabinet stressed that these actions undermine peace efforts, threaten the region’s security and stability, and represent a blatant violation of international laws and relevant UN resolutions.

The cabinet was also briefed on the content of the phone calls the Saudi Crown Prince had with Russian President Vladimir Putin and French President Emmanuel Macron.

Meanwhile, leaders of the world’s 20 major economies have called for a global pact to combat hunger, more aid for war-torn Gaza and an end to hostilities in the Mideast and Ukraine, issuing a joint declaration that was heavy on generalities but short of details on how to accomplish those goals.

Earlier, Arab and Muslim leaders at a Saudi-hosted summit had strongly condemned Israel’s actions in Gaza and Lebanon, while seeking an immediate end to military operations in the region.

The Extraordinary Arab and Islamic Summit was held in Saudi Arabia on November 11, in response to the ongoing atrocities and genocide committed by the Israeli occupation in Palestine and Lebanon.
