MICHIGAN, USA: A group of influential Muslim leaders publicly endorsed Donald Trump at a rally in Novi, Michigan, as the former president campaigns for the upcoming November 5 presidential election.
The leaders expressed their support based on Trump’s commitment to ending ongoing conflicts, a sentiment echoed by Imam Belal Alzuhairi, who stated, “We, as Muslims, stand with President Trump because he promises peace, not war.”
Anadolu agency reports, this rally marks a notable shift as Michigan’s Muslim community, traditionally aligned with the Democratic Party, has increasingly expressed discontent with the Biden administration, particularly regarding its steadfast support for Israel amid rising civilian casualties in Gaza.
During the rally, Trump emphasized the desire among Muslim and Arab voters for an end to the “endless wars,” specifically mentioning the conflicts in the Middle East and Ukraine. His remarks come in light of the recent Israeli offensive in Gaza, where Trump previously indicated support for Israel’s military actions against Hamas.
This position has become a contentious issue, especially after significant segments of Michigan’s Muslim community have protested against Biden’s policies.

The political dynamics in Michigan are shifting; more than 100,000 voters chose “uncommitted” during the state’s presidential primary, reflecting dissatisfaction with Biden’s stance on Gaza. The Democratic Party’s refusal to include a Palestinian American speaker at the recent Democratic National Convention further strained relations.
This political climate presents an opportunity for Trump to capitalize on growing frustrations within the Muslim community, particularly as the number of individuals of Middle Eastern and North African descent in Michigan is substantial, accounting for 3.1% of the state’s population.
As the election approaches, the implications of this endorsement could significantly impact voter turnout and preferences within this demographic, showcasing the evolving political landscape in Michigan.
