ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday said that Palestinian students will receive quality education free of charge in Pakistan.
Speaking at a welcoming ceremony for the Palestinian students here in Islamabad, PM Shehbaz said that more students from Gaza should be invited to study and reside in Pakistan, where they can access quality education in cities like Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta, and Islamabad.
The Prime Minister extended a warm welcome to the Palestinian students, assuring them that their education would be fully funded. He also praised various NGOs, such as the Al-Khidmat Foundation, for their efforts in supporting war-affected students from Palestine.
PM Shehbaz Sharif reassured the Palestinian students that Pakistan is their second home and pledged to make their stay as comfortable as possible.
Earlier, Dr. Mukhtar Bharath, the Prime Minister’s Coordinator on Health, shared that over 100 Palestinian students have arrived in Pakistan to continue their studies. The students expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister and the Pakistani people for their generosity.
On October 18, the second batch of Palestinian medical students arrived in Pakistan, following the Prime Minister’s invitation to complete their medical and dental education here. Dr. Mukhtar welcomed the students at Islamabad International Airport, noting that they would receive top-notch facilities for food and accommodation.
He highlighted the challenges faced by students in Gaza due to the ongoing devastation, affirming that Pakistan stands with them during these difficult times. The first batch of 27 Palestinian medical students had previously arrived in Lahore on October 14.
The students reached Pakistan via an international flight from Istanbul and were then taken to a local hotel under strict security measures.
