Pakistan’s President Arrives in Turkmenistan to Attend International Forum

ASHGABAT: Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari arrived in Turkmenistan on Thursday for a two-day official visit to attend an international forum in Ashgabat, focused on peace and global cooperation.

Upon his arrival at Ashgabat Airport, President Zardari was warmly welcomed by Turkmenistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Batyr Amanov. He was presented with traditional Turkmen bread and flowers.

President Zardari’s visit is at the invitation of his Turkmen counterpart. The international forum titled “Interrelation of Times and Civilizations – Basis of Peace and Development”, which gathers several world leaders, including Russian President Vladimir Putin. The event will focus on the themes of peace, development, and global cooperation.

During his stay, President Zardari is expected to hold bilateral meetings with the Turkmen leadership on the sidelines of the forum. The discussions will likely cover key areas of mutual interest, including efforts to strengthen regional ties and cooperation in various fields.

Earlier, while speaking to Turkmenistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov during a meeting in Islamabad, President Zardari emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to enhancing bilateral relations.

He noted that Pakistan-Turkmenistan ties are built on a shared vision for regional peace and prosperity and highlighted the importance of high-level exchanges to further deepen mutual understanding and cooperation.
