The hypersonic weapon was supposed to be fielded in the current year, but Secretary of the US Air Force Frank Kendall told the legislators in May that the output of 2 scheduled tests this year would ascertain whether or not the project is canceled.
The service had also conducted a successful test in the last July. It may be recalled that it invested more than 1.9 billion US dollars in the project since 2019.

It is seeking 114 million US dollars in the financial year 2023 to continue the program but has not set aside funding for the purpose of production.
