ISLAMABAD: Secretary General of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC), Advocate Pervaiz Shah, strongly condemned the second phase of elections in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJ&K), calling it a “democratic farce” that undermines the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination.

In an interview with western media, he criticized the estimated 4.3 million outsiders allegedly entering the region to cast fraudulent votes, which he claimed delegitimizes the electoral process. He noted that this action has been widely rejected by the Kashmiri populace, who see it as an effort to manipulate the election results and disregard their self-determination rights.

He said that India government is spreading misinformation through the media while keeping the entire Hurriyat leadership under house arrest. He added this manipulation creates a false narrative about Kashmir, obscuring the harsh realities faced by its people.

Shah expressed gratitude to the Pakistani government and its citizens for their steadfast support of the Kashmir cause, urging Pakistan to leverage the current situation to expose India’s actions in the disputed region.

When asked regarding the implications of fake Indian elections in Kashmir, he stated that they have significant repercussions that extend beyond the valley, affecting the entire region. He noted that this Indian stance is not only disrupting peace but also fueling unrest and resentment among Kashmiris.

Pervaiz Shah emphasized the urgent need for international intervention to support Kashmiri self-determination, asserting that the international community, particularly the United Nations, has a responsibility to uphold the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination as outlined in international law and supported by human rights organizations.
